Second-half goals by sophomore midfielder Kelsey Beck (McFarland) and senior midfielder Tammi Hagensick (Madison Memorial) led Edgewood College to a 2-0 victory over Lakeland in a Northern Athletics Conference women's soccer match Tuesday afternoon in Sheboygan, the Eagles' fifth consecutive victory.
Edgewood senior goalkeeper Ilana Bar-av (Madison Memorial) stopped both shots she faced for her fourth shutout of the season and the 18th of her career, moving her within one of Kris Dietz for second place in program history behind Meghan Magner's record 37 clean sheets.
Beck scored her fourth goal of the year in the 52nd minute — freshman midfielder-forward Katie Hunt had the assist on the goal for her first career point — and Hagensick added an insurance goal in the 87th as the Eagles (7-3-1 overall, 4-1-1 NAC) beat the Muskies (2-10, 1-5) for the sixth straight game and the 22nd time in the teams' 26 meetings all-time.
Edgewood plays back-to-back home games this weekend against vastly different opponents.
At 1:30 p.m. Saturday, the Eagles play a winless Rockford team that has been playing with just eight and nine players and has been outscored 54-3 in its six games overall and 49-2 in four NAC matches.
The next day, perennial Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference power UW-Stevens Point comes to Breese Stevens Field for a non-conference match — the Pointers are 8-0 all-time against Edgewood with all eight games shutouts.
