FC Indiana forfeited its National Premier Soccer League match against the Madison 56ers, as the team wasn't able to field a team for the scheduled Saturday night game at Breese Stevens Field.
The forfeit, which is recorded a 3-0 victory, moves the 56ers to 4-2-1 and into a tie for first place in the Midwest Region with the St. Paul Twin Stars — the Chicago Fire NPSL team could make it a three-way tie later Saturday with a victory over winless Eau Claire Aris FC.
The 56ers close the regular season on Sunday against Eau Claire Aris at 3 p.m. at Breese. However, Madison needs help from FC Indiana to win the division title, as the 56ers would lose tiebreakers with the other two teams. If Eau Claire Aris loses to Chicago and Madison this weekend, the 56ers would need FC Indiana to beat or tie the Fire on Sunday and do the same against the Twin Stars next Sunday in St. Paul, Minn.
