The renamed Madison 56ers start their preparations for the National Premier Soccer League Midwest Region season this weekend.
The 56ers will have an intrasquad scrimmage on Saturday night at Reddan Soccer Park, then face the Appleton Magic in a friendly on Sunday night at Breese Stevens Field. Both matches kick off at 6 p.m.
The team opens NPSL Midwest play on the road in two weeks, at the St. Paul Twin Stars on May 30 and newcomer Eau Claire Aris FC the next day. The 56ers have two more road matches before their next home game, June 21 against the Chicago Fire NPSL side at Warner Park. Madison will play in the United States Adult Soccer Association Region II Amateur Cup June 26 to 28 in Oak Forest, Ill., with the regional champion advancing to the national finals July 24 to 26 in Orlando, Fla.
