    56ers kick off NPSL season May 30 PDF Print E-mail

    Madison 56ersThe Madison 56ers face a unique National Premier Soccer League Midwest Region schedule this year.

    The 56ers, formerly known as the Princeton-56ers, will play all four of their road matches before their home opener June 21 at Breese Stevens Field against the Chicago Fire's entry in the amateur league.

    Madison kicks off the league season at 7 p.m. May 30 at the St. Paul Twin Stars, the reigning region champions, then plays at newcomer Eau Claire Aris FC the next afternoon.

    The 56ers haven't announced their full schedule, which is expected to include the U.S. Adult Soccer Association Region II Amateur Cup tournament June 26-28 in the Chicago area.

    May 30:
    at St. Paul Twin Stars, 7 p.m.
    May 31: at Eau Claire Aris FC, 1 p.m.
    June 9: at Chicago Fire, 7 p.m.
    June 13: at FC Indiana, 7 p.m.
    June 21: Chicago Fire, 3 p.m.
    July 11: St. Paul Twin Stars, 7 p.m.
    July 18: FC Indiana, 7 p.m.
    July 19: Eau Claire Aris FC, 3 p.m.
    Home games at Breese Stevens Field
    Subject to change

    • Midfielder-defender Trevor Banks (Madison Memorial), who wasn't able to hook up with a professional team after completing his college career at Old Dominion, said he plans to play for the 56ers again this summer. He was an All-Midwest Region All-Star last summer.
