Jeff Rohrman resigned as University of Wisconsin men's soccer coach Tuesday after seven seasons.
Rohrman compiled a 61-63-12 overall record, including a 12-24-6 mark in Big Ten Conference play. The Badgers were 9-7-3 overall and 1-4-1 in the Big Ten this season, and missed out on the NCAA tournament for the 13th straight season despite being considered a "bubble" team for the 48-team field. |

Former UW-Milwaukee midfielder Tenzin Rampa (Madison West) has been on a tear for the Wave Armada, the Milwaukee Wave's reserve team.
Rampa has 11 goals in three games for the indoor team, which plays in a league at Milwaukee's Uihlein Soccer Park. "He's explosive on the ball, and can pull the trigger quickly," Wave Armada coach Mark Litton said of Rampa, who was picked by the Wave last winter in the now-defunct Major Indoor Soccer League college draft. "He has a high fitness level. And when he does defend, he tackles hard and wins most balls." - The Wave, a charter member of the new Xtreme Soccer League, are holding an open tryout Saturday at Uihlein. The cost is $40. A waiver form and more information is available here.

The way Jeff Rohrman figures it, the three teams considered for the final at-large berth in the NCAA men's soccer tournament were Ohio State, DePaul and his University of Wisconsin side.
Of course, the UW coach probably won't ever find out if that was indeed the case. But in the end, the fact was that the Buckeyes earned one of the 26 at-large spots in the 48-team field announced Monday night and the Badgers were left to ponder the 13th straight season their season ended after the Big Ten Conference tournament. "At the end of the day, I'd like to think we were right there with those last teams that got picked," said Rohrman, whose team finished 9-7-3 overall and 1-4-1 in the Big Ten. |

Doug DeMartin's tremendous senior season continued Sunday afternoon.
The Michigan State forward scored his 17th goal of the season and picked up the Offensive MVP award at the Big Ten Conference tournament to go along with the conference player of the year honor he claimed three days earlier. But DeMartin knows why the 16th-ranked Spartans are one of the hottest teams in the country, which they showed by beating No. 18 Indiana 1-0 to win the Big Ten tournament title on a cold day at the McClimon Complex. It has more to do with the zero in the final score than the one. |

Two Wisconsin players came off the bench and teamed up to eliminate the last state team alive in the NCAA Division III men's soccer tournament.
Sophomore midfielder Wes Elfman (Madison Edgewood) finished off a pass from freshman midfielder Ryan Cammarota (Neenah) in the 79th minute Sunday as seventh-ranked Carleton got past UW-Platteville 1-0 in a second-round match in Northfield, Minn. |

Cody Banks completed an all-everything postseason, as the Madison Memorial senior forward was named to the first team of the Wisconsin Soccer Coaches Association All-State team.
Banks, who had been an honorable mention selection on the all-state team each of the last three seasons, previously earned spots on the Madison All-City team and the first team of the All-Big Eight Conference team for the fourth straight year. Senior midfielder Adam Lysak, a Marquette recruit and Polish Under-18 national team player who helped Milton advance to the WIAA Division 1 state semifinals, joined Banks on the first team. Banks had 20 goals and 12 assists for 52 points this season, while Lysak had totals of 23-15-61. |

Senior forward Amanda Prawat (Oregon) had a goal and two assists as the host UW-Stevens Point women's soccer team powered past Edgewood College for the second time this season, recording a 6-0 victory over the Eagles on Saturday in a first-round NCAA Division III tournament match.
The Pointers (18-3) scored three times in as many minutes in the opening 15 minutes to erase any doubt over the outcome, then added three more goals in a 4-minute stretch spanning halftime to remain perfect against Edgewood — Stevens Point is 8-0 with eight shutouts in the series, including a 7-0 win on Sept. 10. |

Jeff Rohrman and several of his University of Wisconsin players were at the McClimon Complex on Friday afternoon watching the semifinals of the Big Ten Conference men's soccer tournament.
That's what the Badgers will be doing the next few days, too. Watching scores from conference tournaments across the country, then tuning in for the NCAA tournament selection show Monday night on ESPNews and hoping to hear their name called.

Edgewood College takes aim at three program firsts Saturday as it returns to the NCAA Division III women's soccer tournament with an 11 a.m. match at UW-Stevens Point.
The Eagles (16-3-2), who are 0-4 all-time in NCAA play, haven't beaten the Pointers (17-3) in seven previous meetings — and have been shut out each time. |
